Filtration of bulk fuel and lubricants for Horizon Power – Onslow Power Project
Onslow is set to be the home of Australia’s largest distributed energy resource micro grid which will target more than 50 per cent of the town’s electricity needs to be serviced from renewable energy sources. The project is being delivered by Horizon Power and will be predominantly funded through a State Development Agreement between Chevron Australia Pty Ltd (Chevron) and the Western Australian Government.
HYDAC has provided filtration of bulk fuel and lubricants for this project.
A compact solution was needed for a dual change-over filter assembly to meet stringent bulk fuel and lube cleanliness levels. The cleanliness target of diesel fuel and oil after filtration was 16/14/11.
In order to meet the required cleanliness, HYDAC supplied Horizon Power with the Change-Over Inline Filter NFD and the Low Viscosity-Housing Filter LVH-F.
This solution was chosen due to the compactness and versatility of the housing arrangements. This, together with the use of high-efficiency filter elements and HYDAC experience in filtration of bulk fuels and lubes, made it a logical choice by the end user.
See below the advantages and benefits of these products:
- Compact design of duplex housing with change over and pressure equalization lines across two housings
- Incorporation of analog differential indicators to monitor element clogging
- Drain lines on housing together with bleed points
