Basic Hydraulics 1

This course would be beneficial to any individual directly involved in the design, troubleshooting or maintenance of industrial and mobile hydraulic systems. This course introduces the major components which are found in a typical hydraulic system.

  • Four day course (32 hours).
  • Textbook: "Hydraulics - Basics and Components". The textbook is included in the price.
  • MEM30010 Set Up Basic Hydraulic Circuits.
  • This unit can be nationally recognised though our partnership with Swinburne University Of Technology.

This course is designed to provide an introduction to industrial and mobile oil hydraulic systems. It provides vital information for a “quick start” in the understanding of what oil hydraulic systems are and how they work. This course provides a usable groundwork for maintenance technicians, trades people, sales people and engineers. This course promotes safety through the understanding of hydraulic principles, system components, and the potential dangers associated with hydraulic systems in general.

At the completion of this course, the participant will use their acquired knowledge to define the function of a simple hydraulic system. They should be able to identify the major hydraulic system components on a machine, and be able to describe the expected function of those components.

  • Hydraulic symbols and schematics – CH99-T04-0
  • Hydraulic fluids and their characteristics - SE80-T12-0 (Part 1)
  • Hydraulic Pumps – PU99-T01-0
  • Directional control valves – CH34-T01-0
  • Flow control valves – CH31-T01-0
  • Contamination control – SE80-T12-0 (Part 2)
  • Pressure control valves – CH99-T05-0
  • Check valves and load control valves – CH30-T01-0

There are no prerequisites for this course, or for this unit of competency. It is designed for those with little or no experience in hydraulic technology.

Maintain Hydraulics 2
